Juneteenth Lecture

The Black Health and Wealth Equity Lab launched on June 19, 2025. In an engaging and enlightening pre-event the evening before, the renowned actor and advocate, Hill Harper gave a keynote address. This occasion was not just a celebration of the lab’s mission, but also a powerful opportunity to delve into critical issues surrounding health and wealth in under-resourced communities.

Opening the event, Dr. Delalue introduced the Medical Misogynoir™ comic series, which aims to tackle these complex issues Black women face when receiving medical care using accessible and engaging visuals and narratives.

Adding a creative flair to her presentation, Dr. Delalue integrated a musical rendition that brought the themes of her lecture to life, resonating deeply with attendees. The juxtaposition of art and education served as a poignant reminder of the power of storytelling in promoting understanding and social change.

The event culminated with Hill Harper’s lecture, where he shared his insights on wealth inequality and the vital role of advocacy in dismantling systemic barriers. His inspiring words reinforced BHWEL commitment to empowering communities through education and engagement.
